Bio
- Hey! I’m Louis. I’m a software engineer from St Albans, near London.
- My last job was as a Backend Engineer at Thought Machine, which has pioneered highly configurable and scalable banking software. My proudest achievement was being the Tech Lead for our Mastercard certification project, where we built a Mastercard Issuer Processor from scratch!
- I’m half Singaporean, though unfortunately I don’t speak any Mandarin. I practise Duolingo-level French, which comes in handy in the Alps.
- I studied Computer Science at Bristol, learning to row in my first year and moving to the rugby league club the year after. I also had the pleasure of living with Martin in second year.
- I love training and being outdoors, maybe too much. I live for skiing and I completed my first triathlon this summer.
- Over covid I bought a 20 year old car and taught myself to fix it! It’s a labour of love.
The best way to work with me is...
- I love my focus time - bunch up my meetings and leave me an expanse of time to smash out some code.
- Check my calendar! If I’ve time-boxed something you’ll know about it.
- Give me something tangible - it feels great to land PRs and tick off to-do list items.
- Leave a nit on my code! I hate to bikeshed and I love to move fast, but it’s a joy to discuss with other perfectionists.
- Grab me for a coffee and chit chat - I need breaks more often than I realise.
You should know...
- I like to train in the morning! I do 9am meetings but let me know in advance.
- If you bring a dog to the office, I will be sitting with them on the floor by your desk.
